It is not often in life that a person is given the opportunity to participate in something truly amazing, but I’m one of 250 students from across the Midsouth being given such an opportunity through PeaceJam.
Shirin Ebadi, this year’s speaker, will be attending Nashville’s first-ever PeaceJam Youth Leadership Conference, with us, Friday through Jan. 27 at Belmont University.
...I, and many other students from the Midsouth and as far away as St. Louis and Ohio, am attending this gathering with my local student organization.
I never imagined that I would be given the opportunity to learn from Nobel Peace Prize laureates, but now I have been given that opportunity to learn and be inspired by people who have made a giant impact on the world.
I am excited to see this conference change my community and the way I live, and empower my generation with the knowledge that what we choose to do with our lives can and will make a difference. |
